Stock firmware cannot show a guide over a running game. Install cbepx-me's StockOS Modification, and when the first-run config appears, switch Real Time Game Guide on. That toggle is the step everyone misses, and it cannot be changed later without redoing the config.
After that, the .txt files this tool writes are picked up on their own: the console vibrates when the game you launched has a guide, L2 + R2 then Down opens it over the paused game, and M returns you to play. RetroArch games only.
Filling the card is the easy half, and it needs no mod at all: pop the SD into your computer, launch the browser tool above, and a walkthrough is written next to every game it recognizes. Do that first, then worry about the firmware.
A port of Guide Watch is planned. The stock firmware already runs background helpers, so the same trick should work: a rumble cue, a button combo, and the guide over your paused game.
Until then your guides are still there on the card, readable through the device's own file browser whenever you get stuck.
spruceOS on the A30 is next in line, with Allium on the Miyoo Flip after it. Any handheld with a text reader can already open the guides, since they sit right next to your ROMs as ordinary .txt files.

No. It only ever creates new .txt files, and it skips any game that already has one. Saves, states and box art are ignored entirely.
